Calling out Keim and Arians - Worst in the NFL

Cardinals have the worst punter in the NFL. Butler's average is a full two yards less than the next worst. His average is 8 yards below the top guys in the league. Butler is second to last in NET average; and that is 9 to 12 yards less than the top few guys. And don't bull**** us with the line, "He is good at pinning them inside the 20"; because he is really only about average at doing that.

There is no excuse for not even attempting to upgrade this position on the team, NONE!

Other teams go scour the weeds to bring in new punters/kickers during the year. Pittsburgh signed a kicker that looks like they pulled him out of high school, and he was 4 for 4, yesterday!

There is no excuse the Cardinals can't find someone better than Drew Butler to punt! They are out there - find them!

Or a younger, intriguing option would Chase Tenpenny who has the size of a freaking linebacker at 6’3" and 250 pounds so he can probably be useful in terms of tackling on STs if it gets to that.

I remember way back when, maybe the sixties or the seventies, and the Cardinals had a good team but a bad punter. It got to a point that they had to use TE Jackie Smith to punt. I was watching them on TV and the camera showed a fan holding up a sign that read, Dear Santa please send us a punter for Christmas. I do forget who our punter was, but don't think our Christmas wishes were granted.

The only reason I can see them keeping him is that they don't want to mess up the FG chemistry and figure they can live with shorter.

I don't agree with it, or know if that's the case, but's that's all I got.

Totally agree with you and have stated this on several threads on Butler. Makes no sense to not bring in other punters for workouts.

Butler is bad but he's not the worst. The Saints punter makes Butler look like Ray Guy.

His "inside the 20%" is third in the league. Punting on a short field will impact your overall length numbers. Overall yards per punt percentage isn't the best indicator of the impact of a punter.

I am not saying he is great or anything, but I don't think it is nearly as bad as this thread would indicate.

The point is that the organization should be, at the least, attempting to upgrade this weakness; which everyone has known is a weakness since training camp!

I say bring him in! Wasn't he the punter of the Dallas Cowboys when we blocked a punt in overtime vs the Cowboys during our Super Bowl season? There's some kind of serendipity working there.

Agree Butler sucks but to call out the GM and Coach for a punter is lame.

I can't recall such a toxic cloud on the board since maybe the infamous Bears MNF game. Especially when you consider we are 4-2!!!

It baffles me, SK is always looking to upgrade the roster and yet Butler is out there being mediocre at best. Butler is decent at putting punts inside the 20 but he isn't great and the rest of his punting game is not good.

It is the lack of activity to even attempt to improve the position, when it clearly is not up to par, that is the most bothersome aspect of this issue.
