Massie Update

Massie Update:

If right tackle Bobby Massie is to be suspended for the start of the season, the NFL has until Saturday to inform the player and the Cardinals.

Massie was arrested in January on suspicion of driving under the influence and faces a three-game suspension, according to sources.

Massie has appealed, but the NFL has yet to announce a ruling.

does it strike anyone else as odd that Massie has appealed a ruling that hasn't actually been handed down yet?

Yeah, it's really unclear if he has actually appealed or if he's planning on appealing. Everything I've read has said that the team has received no notification at all from the league about a suspension. Adam Schefter from ESPN broke the initial report & then dozens of stories popped up all around the internet based off Schefter's comments.

So let's say the league notifies the Cards today or tomorrow, then Massie appeals... does he get to play during the appeal process?

I watched Watford closely on every play last night.. other than the one sack he gave up (where he got the block and Sims probably held on to the ball a little too long), I didn't think he had a bad play. Would like to see him at start the year at RT regardless of Massie's suspension situation.

No - the NFL does not announce suspensions publicly until the appeal processes is completed.

The player and team were informed. It got leaked to the media. The player appeals. The NFL announces the final suspension (2 or 3 games) after appeal.

Yeah. I think it was a good learning experience for Earl. He gives up a little too much ground vs the bull rush, which is a problem. He does a great job of riding he speed/outside rush back to allow the QB to step up in the pocket.,

Sowell is terrible at football.

Sowell reminds me of Tim Wakefield. Anyways, what I remember about Watford when he first got here was the talk about how he is so powerful and once he gets his hands on you its over. I have yet to see it. Some of you film guys help me out. Is the power really there? Is it just a technique problem?

Watford has great power, but in the two games he has played you can see he is worried about getting beat by speed which has led him to give up some ground vs bull rush. You can also see he is a little uncomfortable in space still. That being said, he is not getting turned onto his head by defensive linemen.

Long story short, he is more powerful than any other linemen on our roster other than Iupati.

think he means Fred Wakefield. Dude was such an extreme talent he was able to make the switch from defensive to offensive line.

Man those were the dark ages.
