Just curious as to what you guys think he'll end up with in terms of a new deal with some other team?
I mean, if Fitz won't accept a more reasonable offer from the Cards (I still think that he will), what could he possibly receive out in the market?

If Keim is telling the truth, I don't see how Fitz can get a better deal with another team. They already have 23 mill accounted for him and say they can absorb it, so anything lower is a bonus. And, realistically, Fitz knows he's not going to command more on the open market than what the Cards will pay him. He has more value to them than any other team.

So many teams with cap space need receiving help that he'll probably get close to 10m per with not a lot of guaranteed money. The Vikings can release AP and have almost 30m to spend. I'm sure New England and Seattle will be interested.

The massive contract makes a trade out of the question.

Fitzgerald restructured his deal last off season. He was paid below market value in 2014 to give the team cap space. Release him and the Cardinals will be viewed as a team that negotiates in bad faith. That hurts the team more than taking the massive cap hit next season.

The Patriots were interested in Fitzgerald last year and remain his most likely landing spot.

They converted salary to bonus.. has no impact on his salary going forward, just how the money got allocated to our cap.

My feelings are like most, if Fitz is unwilling to take a pay cut so ARZ can improve its roster this offseason then we they have to release him. I wouldn't mind Fitz going to NE to try and win a SB, hell I would root for him if NE wasn't playing ARZ in the SB because he's a class act guy who always treated the franchise and its fans with respect and was a model player and citizen.

There are a lot of big time WR's coming out this year so even if BA doesn't feel Brown x 2, Floyd, etc are enough we can tab one in the draft.

New England has done pretty well at letting players move on rather than get buried by an outrageous contract.

I would love to see the Cards retain Fitz for life , but I love the Cards more than any one player. Eventually all players leave.

I really like Jaron Brown, and I hope they don't treat him like someone who is going to have to earn a place on the team like a rookie... I think he has done enough to stick as John Brown for a spot on the roster he will hold as a fourth receiver or even a third

Very thankful for Jaron Brown and he's been an excellent #4 receiver. Do you remember Jeremy Urban? Oof!

He is exactly what you want in the hierarchy of the corps. He is clutch and does not do anything great but is solid in all phrases and gives a good stopgap in case of injury along the position. I see the Cards going pass rusher first and then nabbing a WR in the second, with maybe Fitz staying and Ginn probably on the way out

If we win this Saturday, could we please for the love of fandom, for the love of having a team in the playoffs... stop this damn draft talk till we are done, because I hate this crap of acting like the same ol' losing Cardinal fan when we have a playoff game from Jetstream Green thread on12/31/14

Looks like somebody is talking draft talk before the season is over.:D

It makes no sense in cutting or releasing him. If he's cut we take a 14.4 M cap hit. I don't see anyone that would trade for him and his 80+ M contract.

Only Fitz can help us, takes a paycut and signs a new contract. 5yr/ 50 M is about right or 10 M per year.

Because some of us are draft geeks. It never too early to talk about the draft IMO. It's not like we are thinking the season is over, it's just that we're looking ahead to our future as well. Like a chess match thinking moves ahead.

Would be extremely hard to see him with another team. To me, Cardinals are Fitzgerald. I understand the cap situation and realistically the right decision would be part ways with him to allow $ to be freed. Guess we will wait and see

I gotta think the deeper we go in the playoffs, the more likely he stays.

Sorry Don but this is just dumb.. after restructure he was still paid 8.6mil which is the 8th highest paid receiver in the league... is fitz the 8th best wr in the league? or even close? Every agent and their brother can understand that his deal is ridiculous so it won't hurt them if they were to cut him. Do agree that new england makes sense though.

You mean Jerheme Urban. His first year as a Cardinal this was his stat line:

REC 22 YDS 329 AVG 15.0 TDS 2

Jaron Brown's stat line this year:

REC 22 YDS 229 AVG 10.4 TDS 2
