He was active on Sunday don't think he even stepped foot on the field...but on Sunday even Taylor didn't get a single carry.

Watching the highlight reel he certainly looks a lot faster than the 4.66 time. Seems to use his blockers well too.

I could be wrong, but I swear I thought I saw him in the Eagles game for one play. He ran for a first down on 3rd and short but it was negated by a penalty. Not sure if the stats would show him in on a play that was called back.

I'm pretty sure that was Robert Hughes in as the fullback.

my quick scouting report:

good running instincts, but not a super shifty / make people miss
really good receiver out of the backfield
runs bigger than his size, seems to fall forward for the extra yard
wont run away from anyone, but good burst and quickness

I can't blame Grice for seizing the opportunity when the Cardinals came knocking. It's three game checks. But it he stayed in San Diego he'd probably be getting carries.

The Cardinals just signed former Northern Arizona RB Zach Bauman to the practice squad.

Obviously the Cardinals didn't feel that they could turn to Grice on Sunday and now they've signed another guy to play the position. To me that says Grice better get it together or he's gone.

I believe they do. Grice wanted to be signed by AZ. He had the choice to stay at SD.

Nice kid and was a very productive RB in college... However, his lack of speed and quickness, will always hurt him at the NFL level... It will be very difficult for Grice to remain in the league...
Bauman is a 10x better option...

He's not the quickest, but I think he's faster than that. His vision increases his shiftiness which in turn makes him 'faster' behind the LOS and those first few yards.

What people need to remember is that he broke his fibula Nov. 23rd, 2013.

So he basically had the same injury (within reason) as Johnathan Cooper had.

Given that this injury had to heal, and he then hadn't been running for months, I wouldn't expect him to be at top speed when he did his pro day ~April 8th, 2014. We're talking about 4 1/2 months after a broken fibula.

Cooper was still struggling this preseason as we all know. We don't have the information to judge how severe their respective injuries are to one another, but I think it's safe to say he's faster now then he was at his pro day, where at least 10 teams came to watch him.

He's fast, shifty and a great receiver out of the backfield. He is a little light at 207 lbs and tends to run very upright instead of hunched over the ball. I think he is a great pickup, my only complaint is he is a more of an Ellington-style runner than Eddie Lacy-style.

You must be talking about some other Marion Grice... Because this Marion Grice would never be accused of being fast.
He's smallish at 205 or so, yet doesn't have nearly the speed or quicks a back that small is required to have in order to be successful in the NFL.

The difference between league minimum and what practice squad guys make is pretty big.

Practice squad is right about 100K for a season. League minimum is over 420K now.

Hey, I'm an ASU fan but I've never thought Grice was more than a marginal NFL prospect. He's not exceptionally quick, does not have exceptional moves or straight line speed. On a given day, he could do well. But, he's no long term answer. For any NFL team.
