Without him, our depleted defense would have made this game impossible to win. I am not knocking Thomas because he is a late round project not ready to play but this team is a lot better with Palmer. Palmer might not be great but he is a good QB and surely not an average one. He is tough and a leader and happy he played today, what he did deserves a lot of praise :)

No, not at all buddy... I have always liked the pick up and anything I might say on a game thread is a Texan thing, because I believe in the Duckjake anti- curse :D

That was all heart today, and he obviously wanted to continue the protection of the ball. Taking sacks or throwing it away has really helped us out this year.

Good point, and it shows the team he is tough and will play if he can. I am glad to see him lead us to victory today.

CP has earned full respect from me. Dude is tough as nails and a great leader. Last year as he was throwing way too many picks he didn't pout or give up on himself or throw any of the WR's under the bus when they ran the wrong route etc.

Now he has taken Smokey under his wing and did I mention how tough he is. He under&over threw a couple of bombs today but I attribute that to little practice time and he was just off a wee bit on those.

I'm go Cardinals all the time, so when Stanton went in I was all in. What choice did we have? But there's such a huge disparity between Palmer and Stanton that it's not even funny. And when I say huge I mean Grand Canyon type huge.

That touchdown pass to Floyd is a very hard throw, but an even harder read to make. Nobody else on our team can do that. Palmer had maybe .5 seconds to see the DB lunge--it wasn't even a full drop of the hips, he just dipped his leverage--toward Housler underneath. Within that .5 seconds Palmer had to throw it over the LB and underneath enough for Floyd to catch it. After not playing for as long as he's played, for Palmer to make that read <snap the fingers> that fast, have his arm cocked, and throw it that well is very, very difficult to do.

Stanton can't make the two out-route throws to Floyd, caught right on the sidelines. Those passes, with that coverage, have to be on a rope. They didn't even try it with Stanton. Stanton struggled to make even basic flat passes with velocity (one of which was almost, and should have been, picked).

The slant to Fitz looks easy, and it was bad coverage. But Palmer puts it right in his gut, already tucked away, so that Fitz can turn upfield and run and put both arms on the ball to score the TD.

The incomplete to Brown (the other one). Also another pass nobody else on the team can make. Don't care what anyone says, that was a perfect pass. Sure, you could lead him another foot or so, but football players like Floyd and Fitz high-point that thing and score a TD. Brown acted like he was running through tulips and waiting for it to land in his breadbasket. Can't do that. This is the NFL, you have to attack the ball, from all positions, and he should have leapt and caught that thing to ice the game.

3rd down pass to Brown that was challenged, their may have been 2 of them actually, were right in his gut. I mean throws on a rope into the stomach. You can't help but catch it.

I'm not knocking Stanton, this is more of a pro-Carson post. I really hope he's back for good. This offense will be potent when he's healthy. He was able to do this today without being able to stretch the field to Floyd on those 40+ bombs. So they were playing up anyway and he still made plays. His reads are good. His one almost-INT, he didn't even see Orakpo, hiding behind offensive linemen.

Palmer can take us to the playoffs and beyond, I just hope he stays healthy. This offense has serious potential with him at the helm.

Mentally and physically he's nails. I like what you said about never getting down or pouting or blaming anyone last year. He's a leader on offense and we need him.

I'm wondering if his arm was getting tired. BA loves to air it out no matter what the situation but they got real conservative late

I don't know about that. After we got the pic and Jackson wasn't flagged for a late hit, we run the ball three times and get a first down. Then, we take three shots down field. All incomplete and we wind up punting from the 36.

That series was a real head scratcher.

I'd say that CP was throwing about 90%. What does everyone else think? It was a gutsy performance.

If that IMO. I said this in another thread, but his passes to the sidelines had his normal zip, but his passes long were questionable, and he never threw the real deep balls, and it made me wonder if the rotation of his arm and the nerve had something to do with it. I don't know anything about that stuff, but I do know his passes to the sidelines had zip and he didn't really attempt a long ball.

I agree, gutsy and I think he was obviously less than 100%. I doubt he was even 90, but even at 80 or 70 or whatever he was, was better than Stanton with a concussion or LT at all.

Listen, for those of us who were still behind Palmer when the inevitable "Should Stanton Start?" thread came up, now you know why it was a no brainer for him to take the ball as soon as he was ready.

But those throws were 30 yards in, I think he meant we didn't really air it out. Palmer normally takes deep shots to Floyd, like 40+ yard shots. We didn't see any of that all game. Every throw, every single one, was within 40 yards.

Perhaps, in hindsight. But it won't be a no-brainer if they come back Wednesday and say his nerve flaked out because of a few hits.

It's easy to say I told you so after a game. The people not wanting him to start were concerned about his safety and availability later in the season when we have some really tough games and when division games matter.

So calling anyone out for wanting to preserve our best QB for later in the season is weak sauce in my opinion.

It's not like Washington is a powerhouse, nor are the Raiders, so if you're going to rest Carson for a late run push now makes the most sense. Calling dudes out for it is weak.

There is no doubt he's one of the toughest players in the league. That was a great trade for Cincy though.

I wasn't calling anyone out. If I was to do that, I would put a name to it.

Just saying, "Yay for Palmer!" more than anything.

Palmer's accuracy was very inconsistent. Hopefully that will get cleaned up with practice reps. But that is a small complaint compared to having a true NFL caliber starting quarterback under center.

Carson Palmer is unquestionably this team's number one quarterback. He has won the command of the huddle, and no one in it hesitates to follow his lead.

The fact that he started, (and finished), today's game is testament to his fortitude, inner strength, and leadership ability. He is tough as nails, physically strong, and mentally strong, (almost beyond belief).

He wills his body to do things that are near impossible for his age, yet he perseveres. Willingly taking on the naked bootleg was a thing of wonder, given his age, lack of foot-speed, and his current state of health.

The offensive players in this huddle will follow him through fire itself if necessary. No one can ask for what he gives willingly------it would be too much to ask for. The obvious respect that he has for his coach, and his huddle is only matched by the respect that they have for him as well. This team is so much fun to watch. You never know who, or how the next big play will transpire. You just trust that one is coming.
