I think Bryan McCann has a very good chance to be a key contributor this year. He is highly motivated and is a playmaker. Very good on STs, which is a boost.

Doing what? Stats show he only had 2 tackles last year and I don't remember ever noticing him during the games. :)

I read an article that the coaches were impressed with McCann in practice and even more impressed when during his exit interview he told the coaches he wanted to compete for the starting job at RCB. Between what i saw of him on tape when he signed last year and how solid he was in the pre-season, I think he's a sleeper. He makes very good breaks on the ball, which in this defense is big.

Check out this 101 yard int. return:

"key contributor" = makes the roster, is never heard from again.

Related:

"Potential difference-maker" = Could play some special teams
"Hidden Gem" = Likely won't be cut until the Final 53
"Pro Bowl Potential" = could be used in sub-unit packages
"Soft", "Selfish", etc. = starter and contributor

Glad we re-signed him but I'm still shopping for another CB in FA. He is very good on ST's and he wouldn't be the first player to take awhile to start making an impact in the NFL.

Strongly disagree Mitch. I watched him play in Dallas for the 1st part of his career & he's simply a ST IMO.

I hope that this is not the Cards answer to getting a good CB in free agency.

Like Mitch I liked him in preseason and his special teams play during the season was good.

I don't believe we stop looking for CB help because of this signing.

He was a good gunner when Williams went down.
