Not sure about that. If Matt Davidson hits 20-25 HR's this year for CHI then this was not a good trade unless Reed has a good year. Remember, Davidson is only 22 so he is actually younger and under club control longer than Reed.

He better hit more than that for the Sox considering he is a DH. The guy is worse in the field than Trumbo, but at least we can hide Trumbo in LF instead of having Davidson as a liability at 3B.

Everything I've read makes it sound as though Trumbo wont be "hidden" in left. Its merely where he has the least opportunity to screw up. Trumbo should be a DH.

Trumbo needs to outproduce Davidson significantly, because just about anyone can be converted into a sub par left fielder.

If he has better overall numbers than Trumbo then that will determine if this is a good trade but Reed does need to save at least 30 games as that is almost the number ARZ's closer by committee had (38).
