won't need it, johnny football will slide in the draft and we'll pick him up as our qbof, maybe swope can even get healthy and he and manziel can light it up in the nfl, ellington and taylor seem like they may have something to offer
we need to shore up the o line and get a good outside linebacker and pass rusher
i see lots of playoffs in our future,

"championship" :D

I am no fan of Johnny Football but I have to give him credit. He is a good all arouhd QB and a smart one. I think he will be a top 10 or lower pick when he comes out.

10-6 at BEST.
9-7 reasonable and totally possible.
8-8 likely
7-9 could still happen.

The team the Cards beat today doesn't even resemble the potential SB team they had last year, given their injuries so don't even go there!

Btw I would trade the entire Cards roster for the Falcons roster today because they have a QB that has a chance to get his team to future SBs. The Cards basically stand no chance until they get one of those guys, regardless of how great their defense is.
no way would i trade our entire roster just because of Matt Meltdown Ryan

Yea not happening. Two of our remaining games are virtually unwinnable (SF & SEA). And I suspect the team will have a few slip-ups between now and the end of the season.

In addition to which, one of our biggest issues going into playoff seeding is conference record all four of our losses are to NFC teams, and I suspect at least two more conference defeats. That's a lost tiebreaker if we're competing for the #6 WC spot with a team that we didn't face this season.

I said 6-10 in the beginning, but I'll admit 7-8 wins is a reasonable goal for this squad.

SF is unwinnable? We almost beat them in SF!

Yup! The opening day loss at St. Louis could keep the Cardinals out of the playoffs.

If, and its a big IF, 'we' can beat Indy at home [you know like Whis used to beat Pittsburgh] we've got a shot at 10-6. That November 24 game looms as huge. It's winnable, but it sure won't be easy.

Is everything
10-6 at BEST.

I think it's very possible we finish 10-6 but won't qualify for the playoffs. SF or Seattle is getting a wild card, and Detroit and GB both have very friendly schedules the rest of the way.

SF is unwinnable? We almost beat them in SF!

The Cards didn't even cover the double digit spread!

Is what world is a 12-point loss "almost beating them"?

We had a real strong case for a long time in that game and it got away from us at the end. Do you remember watching it? Or just the score?

20-22 at the end of the third quarter.

I remember feeling we had a great chance of winning. That doesnt make them unbeatable by any stretch. The se3attle game was unwinnable.

20-22 and driving in scoring territory until the fitz fumble then we still had a chance when smith puts the ball on the ground in his only carry of the day.

Oh I think it's winnable, especially if their fate is sealed and they don't have home field to play for.

Exactly. For these slim odds to fatten we need to root for Seattle to beat San Fran week 14, which would likely lock the Niners into the top wildcard leaving them with nothing on the line against us.

Also need to root for NO to lose a few more so that SEA can rest their starters against us too.

Also, while we're wishing for stuff, maybe Carson can return to his Pro Bowl form.

Even if Seattle had the top seed locked up I doubt they would start resting that early. Getting the first round bye, and resting the final two weeks... that would be like 27 days of rust their starters would need to shake for round 2.

But yeah, Carson not sucking would be a huge bonus!

I know.. I made the same point earlier in the thread. With our offense, there are no automatic wins. And with our defense, there are no automatic losses.

With Palmer and Sowell i just don't see it. Still some very impressive stuff from the D and Mr Ellington.

Well if Ellington us doing so well then you better take back what you said about Sowell.

80 yard run was to the left side.

we're going to finish 8-8 again, ruining a chance at a top pick, and keeping us out of the playoffs, per the norm.

So no matter what happens the Cardinals are wrong....... its like the team has a wife

8-8

I would be extremely happy with that record.

9-7.....That is beyond expectations by 4 wins. That would be impressive.

:big laugh:

You are hell bent on making the Cardinals worse aren't you.

Trade Fitzgerald.

Swap a 2-6 team with a 4-4 team

What next? Hire back Rod Graves?

The Cards are a different team than the one who played in the first four games. Yes it might be the tell tale on us even having a shot at the wild card but, it is what it is, as they say. Our Defense which I thought was a middle of the pack D has truly come together.

DD has been his old self. Wash is just great and along side Dansby there is no where to go. CC is playing at a pro bowl level. R Johnson missing top of finger and all has been steady since coming back.

We have a running game!!!!!! Pressure that was all on Carson is no longer an excuse if the coaches play this right. Our O-line is and will be a question this year. I like the fact that Massie and Potter played last week. Massie is the key to this years record IMO.

i cant find the article but there is a quote from massie floating out there about how he made 40 mistakes in training camp and only made one during the game. sounds like even he is coming along and they had to coach the grimm out of him.
