Hopefully it is not ending his 2012 season before it starts. While we have a lot of TE's, I am not sure who we have as a "blocking TE" past King. Dray is OK. Martell Webb is said to be pretty good as well, and Steven Skelton has had a blurb about him here and there.

Losing King would be a big blow, hope he will be OK.

King is a better blocker than Heap. Heap is a better receiver.

Heap hasnt been healthy in years and King proved last year he is our #1 tight end.

Sorry, after watching the Cardinals field one of the worst TE cores for over 2 decades I don't think it will be so easy to replace King, that is IF he is badly hurt. Which I hope he is not.

King? Overrated as a blocker. I saw him miss quite a few key blocks; he tries hard but is beaten by better athletes. Heap? Better blocker, but obviously the injury bug is an issue.

Housler? We don't know how good he can be; he was open A LOT but our QBs inability to find anyone not named Fitzgerald didn't exactly give him the opportunities. And yes, he can't block my grandmother.

But we need to develop Housler.

Now that we have Floyd, Housler should be able to get onto the field more, just to distract D's and get his routes down, whereas before we drafted mike, we had to keep King out there 24/7 as a legit target.

Fast TEs cause nightmare matchup problems. King sitting and Housler getting more reps might be a very good thing.

You're wrong about this. Maybe your memories of Heap as a Raven and Sun Devil are blinding you to the fact that he's The Walking Dead now. He was bitten by the Rotting Dessicated Corpse of Joey Porter at training camp last year, and while the transformation isn't totally complete, it's reached the point of no return.

Check out FootballOutsiders' advanced TE stats and they'll tell you that King was even superior to Heap in the passing game. Heap wasn't asked to block much at all, and was really only the "starter" in that we usually started games in 2TE sets so that Heap could get his start and then be banished back to the bench so that more useful players could take the field.

That some fans continue to believe that Todd Heap has value as much more than a mascot and outreach to a particular fan base in the Valley continues to mystify me. He was a giant zero last year. Not even "tantalizingly good when healthy"; he was just "merely adequate when he's on the field."

Could be. The Greatest Show on Turf had such household names as Ernie Conwell, Jeff Robinson, and Roland Williams at TE.

(Also probably why Warner struggled so much in NY, they had Jeremy Shockey and Kurt didn't know what to do with a TE that was featured in the offense. )

Still hard to believe that Kurt Warner had only started 15 games in the 3 years prior to coming to Arizona. 15 out of 48.

Well at least the Cards had the good sense to not draft Jimmy Clausen and take DWash instead. 2010 what a bad year to need a QB.

I'm sticking with my prediction that Heap gets waived. He is overpaid, he brought absolutely nothing to the table last year and he cannot stay healthy. If not for his local ties I think he would have been cut already.

I don't want to see Heap cut. King is underrated imo. The guy is a lunch pale player and he can catch for a big guy. He was the best signing last year. But play heap on passing downs and keep him healthy he can still play a role for this team.

Housler... Not sure on him until he does something.

How many passes do our TE's catch in a season? How many passes can our average (hopefully) QB's complete per game? And, with WR M Floyd given every opportunity? We need a TE who can block. Yesterday I was thinking the Cardinals would cut TE T Heap. Not today.
