'Los: I am really sorry you arent a Cardinal, but dude, you need more self awareness

http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/11/14/2501126/miami-dolphins-karlos-dansby-boasts.html#ixzz1diT2WkIA

"I'm better than everybody," he said without pause when I asked if he's better than Ray Lewis. "Everybody. Period. Point blank. I just haven't had the recognition, man. I'm more versatile than everybody. Period. Pont blank. I'm more versatile than everybody. Hands down. I can do it all."

Better than Chicago's Brian Urlacher?

"Aging," Dansby said. "He's aging fast, man. He's a great linebacker, but he's aging fast. I respect all the linebackers. But I'm better. That's just how I feel."

Read the whole column. Its pretty entertaining

Beat me to it... I always loved the Dirty Bird but he isn't elite and didn't deserve to be the highest paid LB of all time. He would've lost some effectiveness with the demise of Gerald Hayes. At this point i'd take him back in a heartbeat.

That stat line for his last game is pretty good.

He is definitely versatile and a playmaker.

Kind of sad when you, as an Arizona Cardinals fan, can say "Haha.. look at that silly bastard from that awful football team over there!"

I can think of alot of players who think they're great & never see the field. It's an ego thing & to be the best, you have to believe you are. Los is a helluva player & he doesn't play for the Cards anymore...nuff said.

IMO Dansby is a level below elite. But He & DWash would be awesome together.

What a idiot. He wouldn't even be the best LB on the Cardinals or top 3 in the NFC West.

For those that don't feel like following the link-- the column writer notes that his performance last year was pretty mediocre, and that he showed up at camp this year at 275 lbs. it took him the first half of the season to get down to 245 and his performance has jumped.

As I have noted before, this was a deal where both parties would have been better off had they reached a deal.

KD is not spouting an empty boast when he says he's more versatile than anybody. You'd be hard pressed to find another LB, who isn't considered one of the best in the game in his prime, who has the numbers across the board (sacks, pdf, ints, tackles and ffs) that he has and have played as well in 3 different defensive schemes.

Some guys have more sacks. Some guys have more tackles. Some guys hit harder, some fill gaps better, etc. but few if any have done all of those things like KD did (pun intended :)) with Arizona.

I disagree. I think the he would be the best LB on our team right now.

I like Daryl Washington and Acho as much as the next guy, but there was a reason why Karlos Dansby was our captain. He was the guy who stayed on the field for the entire defensive series and allowed for Wilson to blitz b/c he could drop into coverage and cover a tight end. He also was a pretty good blitzer in his own right.

I really don't understand the hate for Karlos. The front office basically told the media that they wouldn't extend him because they were worried that he would stop playing hard once he was paid. They elected to make him the franchise player two years in a row and before the third year told the media that they were going to let him "test the market" to find out if another team was willing to pay him what he was asking. When another team decided to give him a big contract, the word from the bird was, "Hey, he's a good player but that is too much money for him. We can match that production with a 2nd round pick and Paris Lenon." And now Karlos Dansby gets the wrath of the Cardinals fans because he found a team that was willing to give him a big contract.

I had no issues losing this idiot. Never liked him.

What did you not like about his 25 sacks, 10 interceptions, and 12 forced fumbles during his time in the AZ? His 2 forced turnovers vs Green Bay in the playoffs, his interception in the Super Bowl or being the leading tackler among all players in the 2008 playoffs? Oh and of course his running into the end zone with the with the game winner in that Packers game?

I'd say Klos was a sight better than Raynoch Thompson.

And father time is just giving ol Karlos a pass. Okay brah. I've seen my share of Phins games since he left.

Agreed Duck. I don't hate him. Not by a long shot. I wish we still had him, and you can argue that us losing him was why we declined so quickly. Just kind of laughing at his inflated self worth.

Shane, you're right my brotha. LOL. I've been busy and my wife works from home and works late at that, so I don't get as much time as I would like to get with my Cards fam. I'll post more often.

His attitude and ego.

He is definitely talented but there was something about him.

one last thought on this. While its fun to chuckle at Karlos' view of himself and where he ranks relative to other LBs -- I believe its a principal reason he isn't in Arizona anymore.

Karlos' view was that he didn't get enough recognition nationally in Arizona, and playing out in the west for a middle market team wasn't going to deliver it. In the column he said he choose the Dolphins because he wanted to play in the AFC East in order to get recognition.

The column author notes that at the time, ironically, Arizona was actually a bigger stage than Miami.

If he would play well, he would certainly get a recognition regardless of where he would be playing imho.

I don't have any problem with dansby saying what he does. He's wrong, but I don't care that he thinks it.

...and dansby would be far and away the best lb on this squad today. His departure has been a big loss for this unit.

Dansby was a big loss for us, but I've gone out of my way to watch a few Dolphin games the past 2 years. Dansby has been OK, but certainly no where near the player he was with us. The Cardinal D is playing better right now than it ever did while he was here

I agree that he brought more to the Cardinals than he has to the Dolphins for whatever reason. Despite not being an ideal fit for the 3-4, he was a player that we would have been better off keeping.

I agree. I really thought KD would go to a team where he could go back to OLB in a 4-3 when he left. That is where he was most effective as a playmaker.

To me Karlos looks slower and heavier the last couple of years but he's still a heady player and does a lot of things that don't show up in the stat line. Much like Darnell Dockett does for us.
