Darrelle Revis scored a 10, so it clearly doesn't say much for what type of NFL player you will be but still...a freaking 9?!?! I could take the test blindfolded and do better than that. Here is an example of some practice Q's from the Wonderlic.

To be honest that definitley makes me like Peterson a little less. I dont think its a huge problem if hes playing corner but if hes going to switch to safety then he better be able to win a chess match..

Also i think its safe to say the "dumb" players are the ones who wont work as hard (generally speaking ofcourse)

Just found the scores for the top QBs. Gabbert scored the second highest at the combine with a 42. Newton was pretty bad with a 21.

I like Gabbert a lot...If he drops to number 5 and either miller or peterson is there too then its going to be a tough choice...

When Patrick Peterson was being recruited out of high school, the U of Miami stopped their process on him and took heat from the fanbase. They allready knew he was dumber than a box of rocks and couldn't meet the entrance requirements. Good old LSU to the rescue. They haven't met an SAT and GPA score they didn't like. But then that seems to be a trend in the SEC. AJ Green Georgia got a single digit score, as did Chris Culliver South Carolina DB got a 9. SEC will take just about anyone.

PS Make that 4 out of 5 lowest scores.

Florida OT Carl Johnson produced the worst score among this draft class, registering a 6

A lot of pros have proven that football intelligence doesn't work the same as intelligence for the rest of the world.
It's not a great sign but I'll play devil's advocate:

He's on defense so as long as he's smart enough to understand his position and role he'll be fine.

Defensive players tend to value a defensive, aggressive, mindset. They get to be the human missile launchers not the guys who have to deal with it. Higher intelligence usually correlates with a higher introspection rate and more questioning. Leave that crap to the offensive. Just go kill.

Agreed but coupled with the scout's comments about him lacking instinct is a real concern.

It's pretty unbelievable that someone can't score any higher than a 9 on a test like the Wonderlic.

On a side note, it's a pretty strange situation that you have to go to college to become a pro athlete, with the occasional exception here and there.

Because those positions tend to be dominated by white prospects, who have more culturally in common with the makers of the test. I'll go ahead and say it.

I'd like to think that American football has gone beyond the stereotype of blacks can't play QB; centre or L-tackle.
