Becuase as of right now there is a CBA. Until there isnt one teams need to operate as business as usual or there is a possibility on March 5th a new deal is done and you are left flat footed.

Wait a minute. I thought teams like Pittsburgh and NE didn't pay big money to veteran players. $10 million for a Guard? Why aren't they letting Mankins go and simply inserting Ohrnberger and save around $9 million? What a dumb organization.

I thought with all the animosity over his holdout that there would be no way they'd tag him. I guess what they say, time heals all wounds, is true. It had gotten pretty ugly. Yes,heartbroken,mad, whatever term you want to use . I think this stinks. The two guys I thought would most likley be available are going to be tagged in Mankins and Harris. Throw in Woodley likely getting tagged and the prospects for a major talent upgrade are dwindling quickly.
Maybe they are doing me a favor as now I won't be agonizing over Graves/FO when they didn't pusue either one.

As for the CBA, I don't think there is any way the owners give up the franchise tag. So I don't think March 5th has anything to do with it. They will either be tagged under the new agreement or won't be free agents because business will be shutdown.When they resume operations, the tag will be in use. Carl Nicks and Davin Joseph are my next two choices at guard. Expect them to be tagged any minute now .

Well I agree since I would think Lutui+Faneca+Hadnot > LBrown,Keith,and Bridges. But I simply don't think personnel is the problem with our offensive line.

Not surprising that regardless of the relationship they would want to protect their interests until the CBA is resolved. Then they can trade him for something less then 2 firsts, remove the tag or just pay him for a year.
