This is a good read from The Bleacher Report. It echo's a lot of what we as fans have said regarding Skelton's first start and the outlook moving forward.

Here's the link: www.bleacherreport.com

In this slideshow, we will take a look at why Skelton has given the fans a lot more to be excited by than either Hall of Anderson has in 2010.

"On the Cardinals first drive, Fitzgerald and Wright both dropped passes. Nine of Skelton’s incompletions were attributed to outright drops and another five were from throwing the ball away when no one was open."

With another week of practice under his belt (with out having to worry about who is starting), and some confidence from the Denver game, I am hoping he can at least match his performance from last week. If he does, we should take them down. :)

I just hope they will stop with the terrible WR screens.

Red Skelton has alot going for him physically. another plus is he has less to unlearn than a top College QB. His dad knows football and has the connections to provide any NFL needs as a Texan owner.

I don't know what Skeltons potential is but I'm sure this is the bottom floor after being the practice squad QB for 12 games and a training camp. I'm worried our staff will screw him up.

I think alot about Matts rookie records with Dennis Green, Matts growth and his supposed decline under whisenhunt. Choosing starting DA and Max over Skelton and Matt just adds gas to the fire. Their picker is broken. If not, their thinkers are broken for sure along with their feelers.

throwing 37 times in a rookie start is stupid, yea yea THT had a career day with 7 rushes for over 100 yards in the 4th 1/4. brilliant, but it was like 35 passes to 17 runs before that. I loved it, but it never protected our rookie QB as a proper staff would.

Whis is a QB killer, He can change but I have yet to see otherwise.

Whiz never picked Matt, he traded some talent to get Skelton. Yeah, Whiz throws a lot, that's kinda cool for the next three games. I wanna see what the kid has got, how fast he developes, and how the team responds to him. Whiz isn't trying to kill Skelton you silly willy, he didn't even want him in the games yet. (injuries homie)

Eventually Skelton will need to learn how to throw downfield, why not start now?

Silly Willy I like it.

Not Skelton alone, lets see,

07 kept 2 QB's on the roster,
Matt went down with a broken Collar bone,
Kurt went down trying to get his own fumble.
Tim H and Tim R from the streets,
Kurt toghed it out with a brace most the year.

08 Kurt throws 600 times in a put pressure on the defense, throw like your hair is on fire offense. It's easy to remember the 9 wins, but the 7 losses were not QB freindly games! or Q freindly for the Jets. remember that fist half! KW had 6 TO's.

09 Kurt was special but make no mistake about it, that GB playoff game, we had a 3 score lead running Beanie and then lost the lead with 3 and outs. That last hit Kurt took in new Orleans was a monster, thats why he left 11.5 on the table in 2010.

This year Matt was cutt after a far superior preseason, DA started passing 40 times a game! Max Hall started throwing 40 times a game, skelton started throwing 37 times a game. Beanie has 90 carries THT has 129 in week 14.

Now that is not QB freindly situation unless you put it like you did, " i want to see him throw as much as possible to see what he has this year!"

I want to see him throw prudently while protected to see if he can survive this year and get better. It aint the oline

Whiz asks a lot from his QBs, and the good ones make it to the play-offs.
Whiz throws a whole hell of a lot, add good QB, it gets us to the play-offs.
If Whiz gets a good QB , it gets us to the play-offs.
I like Skelton, you know the guy the thread is about? Your Leen-eart love and Whiz hate has found its way into the wrong thread again. If you mention Beanie next, you will not get the 5/5. :)

5/5?

I could be wrong, again. but 450 passes to 260 runs is not good on any QB. and only 219 of them runs are from our top 2 running backs, whomever they are?

I like John, I hope He's an NFL quality starter, has the tangibles of Peyton Manning with wheels. He needs some footwork but can overcome faults with that cannon arm.

elite one made the playoffs and super bowl, not good ones. I think good quality average NFL QB's (ranked 10-20) fail on this team with whiz's schemes and playcalling.

I think Max might have been a quality NFL back up, I'll be surprised if he gets another chance in the NFL. (after he heals)

at worse I see john as a quality NFL back up until the end of his rookie contract. (see Josh McCown)

We need 2 QB's unless Bartel has developed after being cut 5 times by NFL teams.

The thing we have to offer is weather, oppurtunity to play and money. I can't think of any starting QB's that wanted to be here, with Fitz!

4/5 :) (4 just because you used the word tangibles, and that is Whiz's word :p)

Most of the Cardinals drives ended with points, one way or another.
Yes most were Kicks, but three points is still points on the board. Significantly, Skelton managed to put his team in the position to score those three points time and again.
This is not entirely correct... it was primarily defense with six turnovers that helped short field positions.

I like what I have seen out of Skelton so far but this is several gallons of koolaide article.

No joke, didn't they have like four scoring drives that were shorter than 25 yards?

The kid did some good things, very good things for a rookie, like showing some poise in the pocket and some smart decisions with the football instead of trying to force things, but when you look at the game as a whole.....he passed the "don't screw it up test" and not much more.

The defense set up the offense with unbelievable field position all day long and Skelton was an admirable bus driver.

I am encouraged by Skelton's start -- but remain cautious

in a KTAR interview, Skelton noted that the Broncos played coverages that were pretty straight up.

As Skelton plays more, he will see more and more strange coverages designed to confuse him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a couple rough games.

The cool thing is that Denver has two quality corners. No pass rush but a decent secondary. Kind of like Carolina.

I agree on all points, but I guarantee we don't win that game with DA on the field. DA has drained the emotional tank of everyone on this team, especially the "D". Consistent TO's & 3 & outs just drain everything that a defense has. As long as we were at least kicking FG's, the D was getting some rest & stayed motivated. The kid is 6'6", has decent escapability, unbelievable poise, a strong arm, and is intelligent. He'll probably never have the accuracy of a Phillip Rivers, but he'll improve in that area as he plays more. I can deal with watching this team struggle with a guy like Skelton, but I will never watch another Cardinal game if DA is under center. In my 46 years of following this team, I have NEVER seen anyone on our roster who is more painful to watch. That says alot, because there have been quite a few stinkers over the years.

tom tupa

Tom Tupa was more painful at qB. at least live, I'm not sure though that MNF game this year was pretty painful. like a 180 minute tooth drilling.

Our Wr's dropped the ball, alot. Mr Skelton has accuracy and that sports science show graded him pretty high against some elite qB comparisons.

What i seen was timing is off, late on every throw, behind receivers. He is not up to NFL game speed, but his reads were right and decisions were correct.

I hope John can hold his own and have a chance to compete when ever we play again, at least a quality back up until end of his rookie contract.

anything more is gravy. to be a NFL keeper at QB is better than what we have now.

DA wins as the most painful.

C'mon, its not koolaid!.

Here is what we knew,

The kid has the arm, size, bulk, and physical skills to be an NFL quarterback.

The question was whether he could develop the footwork and decision-making skills.

In one game he showed us speed that we did not expect. He also showed a cool ability to move within the pocket and make the pass. He also showed the patience to throw the ball away. He had no turnovers. He did not act like the whole game rested upon his shoulders.

Yes, it is one game, but we saw alot in that game.

The next question is whether he can perform like that consistently. If he can, well, you have a starting nfl qb right there.

For people who know quarterbacks, they were very complimentary. Ron Jawarski was very complimentary. One start at a time. Makes the rest of the season interesting.

Rich Gannon said nice things during the game broadcast.
