But that has nothing to do with Matt.
It has to do with replacing Matt.

I think the gamble is not benching/releasing Toast. The gamble is going with a historically bad QB as your starter based on a fairly mediocre preseason where all the good and especially bad has been showcased by him, and backing him up by two rookies (one a spitfire UDFA). That's a ballsy, and potentially damaging, move.
If DA shows us he is who we thought he was, it doesn't matter if Toast was superbly hated, the media will be ALL over the Cardinals for not getting a better QB, for taking a risk with a known poor QB, etc. Since when have you ever known the media to bypass taking easy shots at the Cards?

Completely agree. But none of that has anything to do with Matt. The media doesn't like him any more than they like the cardinal organization.
No he isn't. Have you heard the media and their bias against Matt long before this switch was made? Media don't give two craps about Matt. It's his cult following amongst fans that's amazing.
Cleveland's punter and special teams sure had a hell of a great day!
I guarandamntee we will see such days from Anderson. He will personally deliver a couple of losses by hisself.

How so? Because the general media contention is that Matt sucks too. The same backlash would be had if stuck with Matt and he sucks and we still lose. Won't have anything to do with the change. Of course you will have you very few snake reporters who will flop and take the "what if" angle. But that's to be expected.
Yes he is. If the Cards aren't successful at QB this season, HE will be blamed for it, not the QB.
If this season goes south (with or without Leinart) I think the national media is going to question CKW for his QB decision (to keep or to cut) but they're going to give him a pass because he's earned it in their eyes and because nationally neither of our vets is highly regarded. For the most part, very little is expected of the Cards this season and that will help soften the blow. Sure, there will be some "I told you so" Cards fans that will want his head but they seem to be there already.

Calling that game by Anderson "mediocre" is insulting to mediocre.
Oh can we, can we, start a new Lienart thread?

The thing that bugs me most is, theoretically, Leinart is going to improve as the season goes on, he settles in, and gets more comfortable. With Anderson, he's already shown what to expect over the course of a season and half as a starter and that's not all that good.
No way. Matt 'earned the right to start' as so put by Whisenhunt. If Matt starts and fails as a QB, then the media will just say what they have been saying for a little while now. (Matt sucks, didn't have it, etc.)
If you start Anderson by either benching or cutting Matt, there will be a ton of second guessing going on by not only the media, but by fans and quite possibly players as well.
It's like starting an argument with your wife to prove a point; no matter what happens, if you keep your mouth shut, if don't have your wife angry at you for choosing the wrong words to prove your point.
Then he turned around and promptly lost that right to start. Things aren't static in the NFL last I checked. Things change. Players regress. Once again I think you assume this is personal. Where as I think Whiz sees it as his best opportunity to win. Nothing more or less. Matt has shown to not be capable of running his offense.
The only thing that is about Matt IMO is his inability to hang on to the job.
