Well, I want to start this by saying I'm... HOPEFUL! :)That being said, I think this Foote/Porter situation is going to send a VERY strong msg. about how SERIOUS the front office is about WINNING. With one BOLD stroke of a pen, a msg. can be sent to the fan-base, the media, and fans around the league. You have a situation where a coach (Whiz') and a respected player (Haggans) went out of their way to "recruit" a player (Foote). A player who by all accounts WANTS to be a Cardinal. (I don't know the going's on w/ Porter so I won't comment on that).

I understand. Negotiations take time, etc. BUT if either player signs w/ someone else for just a few dollars more?? I see a TREMENDOUS NEGATIVE Domino--effect. The players, who I'm sure are watching this just as close as we are, will be disappointed. We, the fans, will be disappointed. Coach Whiz' & staff will KNOW their wants/plans can be thwarted, ...And the media, NFL fans, and even NFL players will draw the conclusion: the Cardinals ARE NOT WILLING to take that EXTRA step.

I can ACCEPT if Porter & Foote sign somewhere else for a RIDICULOUS amount of $$ BUT anything else will make me question whether the Cards are REALLY different. If I can borrow a line from "LOST" on ABC... Jack's dad would often say...And THAT'S WHY the Red Sox will NEVER WIN!!

So, will the REAL Cardinals please stand up! GO CARDS! :D

Can we just stop please? The guy hasent even been signed yet. It was just a comment freaking Twitter. Like that's real reliable. Just because Foote said he wanted to be here doesn't make it so no matter how much peoe want to believe it. If he does sign let's wait and see the #s first. Not to mention length of contract. Besides just because he visited doesn't mean the team was even interested in his services after that meeting. To many variables to be worried or panicking!

Whiz and Graves have given us zero reasons to be hopeful. Why should we believe that we have people in charge that know what they're doing? Surely Twitter is the answer, it is the know all.

Why trust a coach who has merely taken the freaking Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl? :sarcasm:

Reported in Detroit news also. Sounds like more than just noise to me. We shall see.

I hope I'm wrong but the Cardinals might be the NFLPA worst nightmare. In an uncapped year there is no limit on how LITTLE a team must spend on its players. If that happens it will interesting to see how the team spins it.

What a bunch of whining people. The sky hasn`t fallen and the world hasn`t ended. If Foote and Porter go elsewhere..................move on to next options.enough hand wringing wimpering over those two.Whisenhunt and Graves know what they are doing IMO.
Dansby is way too much overpaid for what he did.

Interesting comments guys...

I agree that there's no point to over-reacting, whining, etc. This post was more about Whiz' and his wanting to improve the team. I think he knows better than anyone else what we need. IF Foote doesn't sign w/us I'll be very interested in his comments. We go forward regardless! :)

Perspective...

It would have been nice to sign Foote.

That he said such positive things about us and then signed with Pittsburgh is troubling (it definitely reflects badly on his credibility and raises a small red flag about our own credibility as a FB team).

The way this was presented to us was: "Good Guy...Good Locker Room Leadership...Run Stuffer...Fills a Need...Wants to Be Here. For the FO to raise fan expectations and then not deliver is not a good thing.

But it isn't the end of the world - Foote was essentially a lunchpail inside LB growing a bit long in the tooth who would have signifcantly (but nowhere near entirely) filled Dansby's shoes and would have represented a stop-gap.

But not getting him does put pressure on the FO to start signing more guys and sets the table for additional fan push-back.

It will be interesting to see whether Foote and Porter were, in fact, operating as a "tag-team" and the non-signing of Foote will have any influence on (or is any indicator of) the signing of Porter. Like I said before - not the end of the world but it makes me nervous.

If Cards cannot get Porter; that will be utter failure by the team and certainly will not look good to the fans and players in the lockerroom like Dockett etc.
