I still think Porter is all but a done deal. Too much smoke for there not to be a fire there

You would think we would have heard about him at least coming in for a visit by now?

He was just released yesterday so we probably won't hear about where he's going to visit until later today.

I'm sure his agent was scheduling visits when he was cut the first time (remember he was cut but had to stay on the team due to CBA rules) but won't announce them until later due to fear of breaking tampering rules

I was hoping for him to be an option for us but with the amount of passrushers in this draft in the first two rounds and the fact that Dumerville is still there to get if need be, I'm not to worried just yet about us getting a passrusher. I'm not really on the Joey Porter bandwagon though. If we sign him I think that he will just be a stopgap player for a year or two while we bring along a draft pick.

Dummerville isn't an option. The Broncos will match any offer thrown at the guy

Maybe. Depends on how much money, plus they would get a first and a third for compensation if I remember correctly. You are most likely correct but there is only so much money Denver will part with before they say ok you can have him. If we had offered both Rolle and Dansby 10million more than the other teams we would still have both of them. Money talks and in the end that is what will by a players loyalty.

I wanted him too but we never had a shot. Not because of the payday but because he only wanted to play for a 4-3 team.

I thought he did well in 3-4 but evidently it wasn't for him.

I am thinking and hoping the same thing about Porter. If we signed him that would really open the draft up, if we don't get foote we can find an ILB somewhere in the first two rounds and then just go BPA with the other picks. Corner depth, maybe an OT...really hope we sign Joey.

Though I seriously doubt the Cards would do it, a "poison pill" in the contract would make it impossible for the Broncos to match. Something to the effect that the entirety of the contract becomes guaranteed if he plays more than 3 games in the state of Colorado. Denver would not match it, and we would pony up the picks to get him.

Dummervil might be worth it, though he's not the total package.

Still, whether Kampman is the answer remains to be seen. He was a bust in Green Bay's 3-4 attack last year, and a torn ACL could limit him in Year One.
Maybe this is why we didn't pursue him.

Kampman was miscast in the 3-4. He was never, ever an option for the Cards

I think he would have been a huge upgrade as a rush backer, but the money he got is something we probably wouldn't have paid for a situational player though.

This is a very good get for the Jaguars IMO. I felt DE or pass rusher was going to be their 1st round pick because of the huge busts that Harvey and Groves turned out to be. Now they can go a completely different direction.
