In some regard, a mod does have to have a decent amount of posts (not a crazy post count like mine) to learn whether or not they ARE fair & whatnot. So there's more than one answer to your question. But I am inclined to agree with CM; what is the point of this?

I am trying to understand what the reasoning is behind behind posters becoming mods.

To say "what is the point of this?" as a comment which is posted by a mod is a great example. The point is that I have question. They may think it is not important I do. Chandler Mike has made nearly 15K posts, I don't question him as to "what is the point of this?" for any of his 15K posts.

There is nothing wrong with my thread. If you don't like it, just move on.

It doesn't make sense to me that mod can post but can also make judgements on other people's posts. I have had posts/threads deleted that were not attacking/offensive/etc.

I have seen mods post things that are out of line.

I am just trying to understand the system that is place. The internet and its sites are very grey and rules are changing all the time.

I don't believe # of posts that someone makes is relevent. Let's me honest, we are know when we click the "post quick reply" button whether something is a potential red flag to a mod.

The last option on the poll is trollish in nature. If you want to whine about something send Mike a PM (or not).

First off, I'm not a mod, I run the site...so let's get that out of the way :)

Second, your poll questions had some sarcastic undertones...the last one especially.

That's why I asked what the point was. Are you trying to cause problems or do you have a real point?

People become mods because they've been around for awhile, which may relate to post count, but also because they've developed some trust with the people who run the site and are given a chance to help out.

All of it is voluntary, so it's just to help the site out.

Thank you for the clarification. Sorry if my comments included what you view as "sarcastic undertones".

I am just frustrated that my posts are sometimes deleted when then are completely within the friendly rules of ASFN while I see Mod's post comments that are out of line and don't get deleted or banned.

I think that you need to discuss these individually with CM or the mod(s) of the forum that you frequent.

Here's an honest question.. Can a mod possibly ever be considered a troll?

The post aren't important, the time they have been posting is. I don't want someone who hasn't been here since 2004 calling any shots.
