Buyout Marbury - Bring Back To Phoenix!

The Knicks are notorious for buying out crazy contracts (Francis, Larry Brown) and I am sure they would do the same for Marbury. Here is the deal:

#1. Knicks buyout Marbury's contract and he is a FA.

#2. Suns sign Marbury for veteran minimum 1 million for the season and he agrees to play off the bench.

#3. Suns somehow find a taker to unload Banks and the Sonics 8 million trade exemption to pick up a big such as Mark Blount.

#4. Suns make Brian Skinner a starting center.

Championship winning lineup:

C Skinner, Blount, Marks
F Amare, Diaw, Marks
F Marion, Hill, Tucker
G Bell, Barbosa, Piatkowski
G Nash, Marbury, Strawberry

How sweet does that look? That's the deepest, toughest club ever.

marbury is a defensive sieve, thats why he's not getting the PT he wants in NY. He also dribbles the air out of the ball and doesnt listen to the coaching staff. No way I want him here, and DA surely doesnt want the guy. Stefs problems are all above the shoulders and I dont even think freud himself could straightened that mess out. At least Banks has the potentential to play some D against some of the faster guards and he appears to be learning, abeit slowly. I still think Banks may end up a productive player, though probably not worth 5M/yr. I remember 2 years ago alot of people wanting to give up on Leo because of bad decision making. Until DJ gets a shot, I'd prefer to hold onto banks and not replace him with a whiny self-centered vet who doesnt play D or distribute the ball before pounding the air out of it.

marbury was actually pretty awesome on defense last season. At least from the 20 or so knicks games i watched. I saw him shut kobe down in the 4th when the knicks won in LA.

No, Sean Marks and Pike aren't insane people and aren't notorious team cancers. They know their role is to sit on the bench and just be practice bodies and they are OK with that. There is such a thing as team chemistry and Stephon Marbury isn't good for it.

This is what I remembered of Steph's defense too. He can be very good if his mind is set on it. He was schooling Parker on both ends of the floor in the year we lost to Spurs in the first round, partially due to Marbury's shoulder injury in game 3. He is strong. His only weakness used to be with p&r and screens.

This is my take as well. If Marbury agreed to return to Phoenix he would be a an excellent teammate. My fear, however, is that he might go to Boston which, IMO, would might put them over the top to win a championship.

From what Chris Sanders posted on the other thread, he's not angry just b/c he got benched, but how Isiah handled the situation. Instead of hearing it from his HC, he had to hear it from a teammate.

2. Marbury has been known as a cancer everywhere he's gone except Phoenix
3. He'd be a back up here and play limited minutes, anyone who gives themself a nick name with "Star" in it, probably wouldn't like that.

I don't think Marbury and his fragile mental state is worth the risk, the teams chemistry is possibly an issue as it is, I don't want to fracture it even worse.

Yes, I was a Suns fan then, though it was hard, those teams were awful.

I remember and I agree, more or less, but I also remember that the uptempo game was definitely not a strength and neither was a ball movement half court game. In the P&R, he'd pass to the rolling man about 5% of the time. Add in the risk that he'd sulk coming off the bench or otherwise foul up the chemistry and I just don't see any point in trying to get him.
