Monday marked the 2026 WNBA Draft. For the first time in four years, no USC players were selected in the event.
The only player to have played for the Trojans who heard her name called on Monday night was Taylor Bigby, who went in the third round to the expansion Portland Fire. After spending her freshman year at Oregon, Bigby played two seasons at USC before transferring to TCU in 2024, where she finished her college career.
On the surface, that seems like a bad thing. When you look closer, however, it is actually a sign of big things to come for the Women of Troy.
USC was an extremely young team this past season. The Trojans had just two seniors on their roster in Kara Dunn and Londynn Jones, and both were transfers who only spent one year at USC.
As a result, the Women of Troy are set to return the vast majority of their production from this past season from this past season for 2026-2027. In addition, USC will see the return to the court of superstar Juju Watkins, who missed the entire year with a knee injury, while also adding several highly-touted recruits.
The Trojans may not have had any players selected in the WNBA Draft this year. But that is because they are loading up for next season and should be a force to be reckoned with in 2026-2027.
Finally, do not expect USC’s WNBA Draft drought to last very long. Watkins, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is likely to be the top overall pick in either 2027 or 2028, whenever she decides to enter the draft.
