No. 17 Ole Miss (21-6, 8-4 SEC) defeated No. 21 Tennessee (16-8, 8-4 SEC), 94-81, on Tuesday at Sandy and John Black Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi.
At the conclusion of the SEC top 25 matchup, a brief handshake occurred with Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell and Ole Miss head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin.
McPhee-McCuin discussed their interaction after the game.
“I think she probably was just really ready to go, you know, because I like Kim,” McPhee-McCuin said. “Sometimes I don't ever take stuff like that personally because the emotions, we’re competitive, you know, and she's at Tennessee. That's a lot of history behind that place, and so maybe she was in a rush or maybe she was upset, and I respect both of them. You know, for me, I was just glad we got the win."
The Lady Vols will next play Texas A&M on Thursday at Food City Center. Tipoff between Tennessee and the Aggies is slated for 6:30 p.m. EST and can be watched on SEC Network+.
