The New York Yankees are turning to one of the organization’s most exciting young talents following the devastating injury news surrounding Aaron Judge. With Judge heading to the injured list after being diagnosed with a fractured rib, the Yankees have reportedly decided to recall top outfield prospect Spencer Jones from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The move gives New York another power bat to help fill the massive void left by the team’s captain and one of MLB‘s most dangerous hitters.

The highly regarded prospect received a brief call-up in May but struggled to make an immediate impact at the plate. During that stint, Jones went just 4-for-24 with 12 strikeouts and failed to hit a home run.
Those struggles weren’t entirely surprising. Strikeouts have long been viewed as part of Jones’ profile, largely due to his aggressive approach and immense power-focused swing. The Yankees knew there would likely be growing pains whenever he reached the big leagues.
Now, he’ll get another opportunity to prove he belongs.
