Athletes can say they have their teammates back, yet words mean little in the heat of competition. Jasson Dominguez, meanwhile, gave up his own back to make a catch as selfless as it was remarkable.

In the first inning of Thursday's game against the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo belted a ball out to left field toward Dominguez. The former elite prospect tracked the ball to the wall and brutally slammed into it back-first to make the play and save a potential extra-base hit.

It was an out the Yankees desperately needed on a bullpen day in which they're starting reliever Paul Blackburn. It came at a cost, however.

Dominguez immediately went down in pain and left the field in a medical cart. The Yankees have yet to comment on the injury or its severity. Ryan McMahon is currently manning Dominguez's place in the lineup.

Dominguez put his toughness on full display with that catch. Hopefully he didn't get too banged up in the process.
