The injury situation surrounding New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge appears to be getting more concerning by the day. What initially sounded like a relatively minor issue has evolved into something far more alarming. Over the past week, the diagnosis and explanation surrounding Judge’s injury have seemingly changed multiple times, leaving MLB fans with more questions than answers.

Now, the Yankees superstar is undergoing additional imaging, including a CT scan and further X-rays, raising fears that the injury could be significantly more serious than originally believed.

When Judge was first removed from the lineup, the issue was described as shoulder discomfort. Soon afterward, reports suggested the problem may actually be related to his ribs. Then came another update indicating the shoulder pain could be stemming from a rib-related injury.

Now, after already undergoing MRI testing, Judge is reportedly headed for additional scans to get a clearer picture of what is happening. The fact that doctors are still searching for answers suggests this is not a straightforward injury.

Rumors have also begun circulating that Judge may have suffered broken bones in his rib or chest area, though no official diagnosis has been confirmed.

A Nightmare Scenario for the Yankees

If those fears prove accurate, the Yankees could be facing a devastating reality.

Recovery from a significant rib or chest injury can take months, especially for a power hitter whose swing places tremendous stress on his upper body. A three-to-four-month absence would effectively end Judge’s 2026 season and completely change the outlook for New York.

The timing could not be worse. The Yankees are locked in a battle for the American League East and have already been dealing with injuries to several key players throughout the roster.

Time to Prepare for the Worst

Until the additional imaging results are revealed, everything remains speculation.

However, Yankees fans have every reason to be nervous. The constant changes in the diagnosis, combined with the need for further testing, paint a picture of an injury that is far more complicated than originally advertised.

Perhaps the news will ultimately be positive. But at this point, it may be wise for Yankees fans to brace themselves for the possibility that their MVP captain could be sidelined much longer than anyone initially expected.
