BRIDGEWATER – There’s still time left in his rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset, but DJ LeMahieu looks ready for the big leagues.

The Yankees infielder, who missed most of spring training with a strained left calf, went 3-for-3 in his first rehab game at TD Bank Ballpark Tuesday night, finishing a triple short of the cycle against Hartford.

“Physically felt really good today,” the 36-year-old LeMahieu said. “Tested (the calf) with running, defense, getting out of the box, it was good … it was a good day.”

LeMahieu, the winner of both NL and AL batting titles, smacked an opposite field double down the right field line in his first at-bat and took a slider just over the center field fence for a home run in his next plate appearance.

He played five innings at second base and appeared to leave the game unscathed. Injuries limited LeMahieu to 67 games with the Yankees last year when he hit .204 in 228 at-bats.

“I want to be out there, I want to be healthy and helping the team,” he said. “When I can’t do that, it’s frustrating. But there’s a lot of season left, and hopefully I can be a part of it.”

LeMahieu is set to return to the Somerset lineup Thursday and said he expects to play Saturday and Sunday building up to nine innings.
