One of the players expected to make the 53-man roster after the preseason but was part of final cuts is now on the active roster. After safety and team captain Joey Blount was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury that ends his season, receiver Simi Fehoko was signed to the roster from the practice squad.
Fehoko, who signed this offseason on a one-year deal with $1 million in guaranteed salary, played well in the preseason, making plays both on offense and on special teams. He seemed to have been a perfect replacement for receiver Zach Pascal, who played almost exclusively on special teams the last two seasons.
With his addition to the roster, the Cardinals now have six receivers, but Fehoko will likely almost exclusively on special teams, probably filling at least one of the roles that Blount, who had a role in every special teams unit, had.
Filling Fehoko's spot in the practice squad is linebacker Channging Tindall. Tindall was one of five linebackers to have a tryout with the Cardinals on Tuesday. Tindall spent the last three seasons with the Miami Dolphins after being drafted by them in the third round in 2022. He logged 588 special teams snaps in three seasons for the Dolphins.
He was part of the Dolphins' roster cuts last month on Aug. 26.
