El Paso's first World Cup 2026 watch party was well-attended by an estimated 900 fans who gathered to see Mexico defeat South Korea 1-0 on June 18 at Cleveland Square, city spokesman Rick Isaias said in an email.

The soccer fan gathering — which attracted families with children and grandparents — took place successfully without any issues, Isaias added.

Team USA and Mexico are already locked in as group champions and will advance to the World Cup knockout round of 32, with Mexico on June 30 and the USMNT on July 1.

The city of El Paso is considering hosting watch parties for knockout-round matches at Cleveland Square and is currently seeking the necessary licensing approval from FIFA, Isaias said. Any decisions on future broadcasts will be announced if approval is received.

The El Paso community watch party is hosted by the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, the Mexican American Cultural Center, and Telemundo 48 El Paso, which is providing the Spanish-language broadcast of the game.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. The festivities will include giveaways
, snacks and soccer player card collecting and trading in a family-friendly atmosphere.
