The Golden Boot race has turned into a two-man fight at the top, with Kylian Mbappe's latest brace pulling him level with Lionel Messi.
Mbappe and Messi now sit tied atop the scoring chart, while Erling Haaland (5), Ousmane Dembele (4), and the rest of the chasing pack need big knockout-stage performances to keep pace. With France and Argentina both positioned for deep runs, this market could swing every time either superstar steps on the pitch.

This one is pretty straightforward. The deeper you go in the tournament, the more games you play, the more chances you have to score.

France is expected to make another deep run, giving him plenty of opportunities to add to his tally. If Les Bleus reach the final, there's a good chance Mbappe finishes as the tournament's top scorer once again.
Lionel Messi may be a bit long in the tooth, but the old dog can still go. Messi, more or less, singlehandedly defeated Algeria in Argentina's opening match, picking up all three of their goals in the 3-0 victory, and followed that up with two more goals vs. Austria.
There may not be a better pure goal scorer in world football than Erling Haaland. Norway's attack runs entirely through him, and he scored 16 of the country's 37 goals in World Cup qualifying. If Norway advances beyond the group stage, Haaland has the finishing ability to challenge anyone in this market.
Gakpo scored four goals in eight World Cup qualifying matches and should play a major role in the Dutch attack. The Netherlands are capable of scoring goals in bunches, and his ability to drift into dangerous central areas gives him a realistic path to outperforming his longshot odds.
Lautaro Martinez is easy to overlook when discussing Argentina's attack, but that creates value. The defending champions dominate possession against weaker opponents, generating a steady stream of chances. With much of the attention focused on Messi, Martinez could quietly pile up goals at an attractive price.
If two players finish level on goals, the first tiebreaker is total assists, and the player with more goal contributions is awarded the Golden Boot. It rewards attackers who create as well as finish.
If goals and assists are equal, the next tiebreaker is efficiency. The award goes to the player who scored their goals in fewer minutes on the pitch.
If players remain tied after goals, assists, and minutes, FIFA declares a shared Golden Boot. This rarity has only happened once since 1982 and two times if you include the six-way tie at the 1962 World Cup.

How the Golden Boot tiebreakers work
Most assists
