World Cup: Curaçao coach Advocaat welcomes Germany test

One of the four World Cup debutants, Curaçao will face Germany on Sunday night in Houston. Their experienced coach Dick Advocaat looks forward to the big test for the smallest nation to play in the competition’s history.

“The fact that we're playing Germany right at the start is fantastic,” said the coach who is set to become the oldest World Cup coach at the age of 78. “We want to advance to the next round. An upset is always possible. And an upset could be all it takes to advance.

“We have a chance. There's a lot of ambition in this team. And when you have that, you can achieve a lot."

Curaçao ended their four-game winless run just before the tournament with a 4-0 victory over Aruba. Ivory Coast face Ecuador in the other Group E fixture later on Sunday.
