The 2026 World Cup will feature three separate opening ceremonies in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, all run by the same person who was behind the opening ceremonies for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
Marco Balich, who orchestrated this year’s Winter Olympics, told NBC 4 Los Angeles that each ceremony is unified by certain themes, including “the celebration of sports, [and] the passion for soccer, symbolized by the cup itself.”
Each ceremony will also feature speeches, a parade of flags, the presentation of the match ball and musical performances that will run about 30 minutes long.
