Todd Monken is going to Cleveland, not New Jersey.
So Giants coach John Harbaugh, his former boss, must now shift to Plan B in terms of finding his offensive coordinator with Big Blue. This will be a significant hire for Harbaugh who had been targeting Monken as someone to bring with him from the Ravens to East Rutherford, all along with the caveat that the former Ravens OC was in the mix for the head coaching job with the Browns.
While initially being viewed as a long shot, Monken is going to be the next head coach of the Browns. He turns 60 next week, and now Harbaugh will look elsewhere for a key piece of his coaching staff with a priority to find a candidate that can help continue Jaxson Dart's development as a franchise quarterback.
The Giants had requested an interview with Broncos pass game coordinator and QB coach Davis Webb for their OC job. It's also believed that Harbaugh would be interested in LSU's Charlie Weis Jr., who coached Dart and was influential in his emergence at Ole Miss.
The Giants have interviewed Willie Taggart for the OC job, and Taggart had been expected to become the team's running backs coach. Harbaugh also interviewed Robert Prince for the job, and he has since joined Kevin Stefanski's staff with the Falcons.
