Wisconsin legend Jim Leonhard could soon be back coaching in the Badger state.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, there is 'mutual interest' between the standout defensive coach and the Green Bay Packers for their defensive coordinator opening.
Leonhard interviewed for the Dallas Cowboys' DC opening earlier this month. His hiring process should accelerate in the coming weeks, with his primary focus still on the Denver Broncos' upcoming AFC Championship Game matchup against the New England Patriots. Leonhard, who left Wisconsin after the 2022 season, currently coaches a Broncos secondary that finished 2025 ranked seventh in the NFL in pass defense (187.2 yards allowed per game). The group's performance is key to the team's chances against the Patriots' strong passing game.
Green Bay is looking for a new defensive coordinator after Jeff Hafley left for the Miami Dolphins' head coach opening. Leonhard, a Tony, Wisconsin native, should be one of the top names of the defensive coordinator hiring cycle. According to Rapoport, the Packers are emerging as a realistic landing spot.

While this covers mostly the head coaches, one note in here: There is mutual interest between the #Packers and Jim Leonhard for their open DC job. One to watch. https://t.co/4nHwg2cWnt
