Former Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen took to social media on Thursday night to react to his team's selection in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.
That pick: Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou at No. 7 overall. Allen shared a one-word answer in support of the selection: 'Yes.'
Membou figures to shore up a Jets offensive line that finished No. 17 in ProFootballFocus' final position group rankings for the 2024 season. Entering 2025, that group returns 2024 first-round pick left tackle Olu Fashanu, left guard John Simpson, center Joe Tippmann (a former Badger) and 2021 first-round pick right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker. Membou should then slot in at right tackle, finalizing an impressive starting unit.
For more on the pick and how it will help running backs Allen and Breece Hall, and quarterback Justin Fields, here is what ESPN's Matt Miller wrote about the fit:
Allen took 92 carries for 334 yards and two rushing touchdowns as a rookie in 2024, plus added 19 catches, 148 receiving yards and a receiving score. The former Badger great was used in a complementary role throughout the campaign, with Hall the clear starter.
Of note, Hall's name has been brought up in trade rumors over the last week, specifically entering this weekend's draft. If he were to be traded, Allen would step into the Jets' starting role. After the team's offseason addition of a dual-threat quarterback in Justin Fields, plus Thursday's draft pick, that job is well-tailored for a breakout.
The second and third rounds of the NFL draft will take place on Friday night, with rounds 4-7 following on Saturday. Wisconsin products Hunter Wohler, Jack Nelson and others are unlikely to hear their names called before the draft's third day.

One year after selecting left tackle Olu Fashanu, the Jets shore up the other side of the offensive line with a plug-and-play right tackle in Membou. A smooth mover with tons of upside, Membou will give coach Aaron Glenn the type of strong run blocking offensive line he has talked about building in New York around quarterback Justin Fields and a talented backfield. My No. 10 prospect and No. 2 ranked tackle, Membou is a smart value.
