Wisconsin veteran wide receiver Quincy Burroughs announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Burroughs becomes the third Badger to enter the portal during the spring window. He joins former Idaho wide receiver Mark Hamper and former Ball State tight end Tanner Koziol, who both just recently transferred into the program during the winter transfer window.
"I also want to give thanks to Coach [Luke Fickell], coaches & staff for everything they have done," Burroughs said in a statement on X. "I am forever grateful for the opportunity to wear the Motion W. Though after much prayer and talking with my family, I feel it's in my best interest to enter my name in the transfer portal as I explore other opportunities."
The 6-foot-3 pass-catcher arrived in Madison following the 2022 season, transferring in after one year at Cincinnati under Fickell. He did not see any on-field action during that freshman season. Burroughs then appeared in all 13 games for the Badgers in 2023, primarily on special teams, and nine in 2024. The wideout concludes his Wisconsin career with five receptions for 43 yards and five special teams tackles.
The Jacksonville, Florida, native originally entered the college scene as a consensus three-star recruit, ranked as the No. 994 overall player in the class of 2022, the No. 142 wide receiver and the No. 129 recruit from his home state of Florida.
Ahead of the 2025 season, Burroughs was listed as a depth option behind starting wideouts Vinny Anthony and Jayden Ballard, with top backups Joseph Griffin Jr., Chris Brooks Jr. and Tyrell Henry. Hamper was near the top of that receiver depth chart before also entering the portal.
That position, although it boasts a strong starting group, has become a bit thin entering the spring portal window. It could be one that Wisconsin's coaching staff looks to bolster over the coming weeks.
Outside of wide receiver, Wisconsin is in search of a replacement for starting left tackle Kevin Heywood, who suffered a torn ACL during spring practice. The team's offense is now in desperate need of depth in the trenches and on the outside, two pivotal components of any successful Big Ten offensive unit.
The spring portal window officially spans from April 16 to 25. Burroughs is unlikely to be the last Badger to transfer.
