Wisconsin Badgers star John Blackwell has been quietly busy on the recruiting trail.
The soon-to-be senior point guard knows he'll be without Nick Boyd next year, so he wasted no time calling Sonny Wilson a "gem" when the Toledo guard entered the portal.
Now, Blackwell has his eyes on another Michigan native. Tulane guard Curtis Williams Jr. entered the transfer portal on April 1. Less than one hour later, Blackwell called him "another gem."
Williams is a native of Detroit, MI. The 6-foot-6 junior wears the No. 99, a number Badgers fans don't want to revisit anytime soon after what High Point's Chase Johnston did to them in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Regardless, Williams has one year of eligibility remaining. He began his career at Louisville before transferring to Georgetown. Eyeing his fourth team in four years, Wisconsin could be interested in a player who started 32 of 33 games this season, averaging 32.1 minutes per game.
The man Blackwell coined a "gem" averaged career-highs of 12.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game with the Green Wave in 2025-26.
