LIVIGNO, Italy — At age 17, Elizabeth Lemley earned her pilot’s license. At 20, she flew to Olympic gold.
In a pretty sizable upset Wednesday, Lemley had the run of her young career in the moguls final to claim the gold medal with a score of 82.30.
Team USA went 1-2, with Jaelin Kauf claiming silver just like she did in Beijing four years ago. France’s Perrine Laffont took bronze, winning a tiebreaker over Japan’s Hinako Tomitaka
Australia’s Jakara Anthony, the defending gold medalist, was the heavy favorite coming into the event but made a mistake early in her final run and did not hit the podium.
