It has been 14 years since Aldon Smith and Blaine Gabbert heard their names called on the same night, and went to the league as first-round, and top-10, picks in the NFL Draft.
Smith went at No. 8. Gabbert went at No. 10. That stands as the last time Missouri football sent two players in the same draft class to the league as Day 1 selections.
Are the Tigers about to break that streak?
The 2025 NFL Draft begins Thursday night in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Five Mizzou players — Armand Membou, Luther Burden III, Theo Wease Jr., Brady Cook and Johnny Walker Jr. — stand a realistic chance of hearing their name called over the course of the three-day event.
Two Tigers — Membou and Burden — seem to have realistic chance of earning a first-round pick.
Using seven-round mock drafts from Dane Brugler of The Athletic, Chad Reuter of NFL.com, Josh Edwards of CBS Sports, Matt Miller of ESPN and NFL Mock Draft Database, which compiles hundreds of big boards and mock drafts to give prospects a composite ranking, here’s where Mizzou’s top prospects currently are projected to land:
The Athletic: Round 1, No. 7 overall
NFL.com: Round 1, No. 7 overall
CBS: Round 1, No. 8 overall
ESPN: Round 1, No. 7 overall
NFL Mock Draft Database ranking: No. 8
There isn’t much variety in Membou’s draft projections. The analysts think he’s either going to the New York Jets at No. 7 or, in CBS’s case, to the San Francisco 49ers in a trade up with the Carolina Panthers.
In all instances, that would make Membou the second offensive tackle off the board, following LSU’s Will Campbell. He would also become Mizzou’s highest draft pick and first top-10 selection since Smith and Gabbert in 2011.
The Athletic: Round 2, No. 35 overall
NFL.com: Round 1, No. 32 overall
CBS: Round 2, No. 36 overall
ESPN: Round 1, No. 20 overall
NFL Mock Draft Database ranking: No. 35
One of Mizzou’s most surefire first-round picks in recent memory is now teetering on the edge of that Day 1 projection entering draft week.
Burden, in most recent prognostications, has slipped to the second round. ESPN, which published its seven-round draft in late-March, still has the highest projection for Burden with the No. 20 overall selection to the Denver Broncos. NFL.com predicts the Los Angeles Rams to trade picks with the Chiefs to take Burden at No. 32.
Other than those, outlets are leaving Burden as a first-round snub, heading either to the Titans at No. 35 or the Jaguars at No. 36.
The Athletic: Undrafted
NFL.com: Undrafted
CBS: Round 7, No. 256 overall.
ESPN: Round 7, No. 230 overall
NFL Mock Draft Database ranking: No. 270 (undrafted)
CBS has Cook one place away from being this year’s ‘Mr. Irrelevant,’ as there are 257 picks in this year’s draft. ESPN also has Cook being drafted in the seventh round, but 26 spots higher at No. 230 overall.
NFL Mock Draft Database has Cook as the No. 270-overall prospect on its big board.
The Athletic: Undrafted
NFL.com: Undrafted
CBS: Undrafted
ESPN: Round 6, No. 199 overall
NFL Mock Draft Database ranking: No. 278 (undrafted)
Only ESPN thinks Wease, who has been dealing with a hand injury sustained in Mizzou’s Music City Bowl win, will hear his name called this week in Green Bay, sending him to the Los Angeles Chargers in the sixth round.
NFL Mock Draft Database has Wease as the No. 278-overall prospect on its big board.
The Athletic: Undrafted
NFL.com: Undrafted
CBS: Undrafted
ESPN: Undrafted
NFL Mock Draft Database ranking: No. 332 (undrafted)
Every outlet sampled has Walker dropping out of the draft. There’s a good chance he would become a highly sought-after free agent, if that were to transpire. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge rusher had six forced fumbles, 14.5 sacks and 22 tackles for loss over the course of the past two seasons, developing into one of the more impactful players on Mizzou’s defense in that time.
NFL Mock Draft Database has Walker as the No. 332-overall prospect on its big board.

Kristian Williams, defensive tackle: Williams is the No. 421 player on Mock Draft Database’s big board. He peaked at No. 298 in the prospect rankings, which indicates he likely has a good shot at picking up a camp invite after the draft is done.
Marcus Bryant, left tackle: Bryant is No. 596 on the Mock Draft Database board, so is more of an outside shot at getting an undrafted free agent deal. The left tackle scored well in Kent Lee Platte’s ‘Relative Athletic Score,’ testing at 158 out of 1,508 offensive tackles graded since 1987. That could help his case.
Cam’Ron Johnson, right guard: Coming off an All-SEC second-team season, Johnson has likely earned his way into the league via free agency. Any team that needs depth at guard could do worse than Johnson, who has 52 career appearances and 37 starts from his time in college.
