Will Lazio Continue to Receive Funds From Polymarket?

While Polymarket no longer appears on the official Lazio website, an insider claims the agreement between the two parties remains in effect.

Lazio & Polymarket Collaboration Turns Sour After Blacklisting​

The US-based company became Lazio’s main shirt sponsor in April after signing a contract valid until June 2028, with an option until 2029. The agreement should reportedly generate around €22 million for the Italian club’s coffers.

However, an unexpected twist put the whole collaboration in jeopardy, as Italian authorities decided to blacklist Polymarket for its unauthorized betting activities and block its website, even though the company argued that its ‘prediction market’ activity differs from traditional betting.

Polymarket No Longer Showing on Lazio Shirts​

On Monday, Lazio took Polymarket’s logo off their website. Moreover, the brand no longer shows on the jerseys displayed on the club’s online store. This prompted several Italian sources to conclude that the agreement was prematurely terminated. Nevertheless, Heibiz CEO Salvatore Palella insists this isn’t the case.

Lazio & Polymarket Agreement Still in Effect?​

Last April, the Italian entrepreneur proudly revealed his role in brokering the deal between Lazio and Polymarket. On Monday, he defended himself with another post on X (formerly Twitter), insisting that the contract remains in effect, and that Lazio only dropped Polymarket’s logo as a provisional measure, and will still receive payments from the New York-based company.

The suspension is not due to the relationship between Lazio and Polymarket, which remains excellent, but rather to new guidance issued by Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), in which neither Lazio nor PalComm are involved. Lazio has already received, and will continue to receive, financial compensation for this agreement. The same applies to PalComm Italia, the company that brokered the deal.
