The Pittsburgh Steelers’ worse case scenario is becoming reality in front of our eyes.

After confidently telling fans that the team won’t be on Aaron Rodgers watch for the entirety of the offseason, as they were in 2025, the four-time MVP won’t be at voluntary mini-camp, and the Steelers won’t know his decision before the NFL Draft, per Ian Rapoport.

“The Steelers have not received word from Aaron Rodgers on his future and there is no expectation of a final decision prior to the NFL Draft,” Rapoport reports.

The more interesting nugget, however, is that Rapoport says Will Howard will be QB1 for the team’s mini-camp.

“When minicamp begins today under new coach Mike McCarthy, Will Howard will be QB1.”

Considering Howard hasn’t taken an NFL snap, one would think Mason Rudolph would start off as QB1 with Howard getting a chance to overtake him. McCarthy will address the media this afternoon, so we will get an official answer on that front.

Rudolph threw two touchdowns and two interceptions last season, appearing substantially in two games in relief of Rodgers after he suffered a wrist injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Howard was performing well in training camp last summer before suffering a hand injury that held him out of the preseason and prevented the Steeles from seeing him in live game action.
