Tennessee Titans cornerback and Nashville-area native Alontae Taylor put a chunk of the money he's earned from the $60 million deal he signed this offseason to good use.

Taylor, who was born in Winchester and went to Coffee County Central before playing his college football at Tennessee, signed with the Titans this offseason after playing his first four pro seasons in New Orleans. Now that he's the NFL's 11th-richest cornerback, he's invested in his family by surprising his mom with the house in Murfreesboro he's always wanted to be able to give her.

"It's super exciting to know I can just go down the road and see my mom," Taylor told reporters after a Titans minicamp practice on June 16. "I just bought her a home in Murfreesboro. It feels good. My family doesn't have to drive seven hours to see my play. We can just go up and down the road."

Taylor said he could've bought his family a house on his rookie contract, but he wanted to wait until he could afford the kind of house his family would really love. After inking his deal with the hometown Titans, Taylor said he moved pretty fast to make the surprise happen.

"They loved it," Taylor continued. "It was their dream home. They had no idea. I think being in this position, the most cool thing to do is get mom a home and be able to take care of your family."

Taylor comes to the Titans as a member of a rejuvenated secondary that also features free agent adds Cor'Dale Flott and Joshua Williams. Throughout early practices and now into mandatory minicamp, Taylor has worked as an outside cornerback rather than practicing in the slot, where he spent a good chunk of his time in New Orleans.

The Titans finish up their offseason program with one more minicamp practice on June 17, after which players will be off for the rest of the summer until training camp begins in late July. Taylor will be staying home in the Nashville area with his fiancée and his kid, save for a quick beach trip with the family.
