The Buffalo Bills got agonizingly close to field goal range in overtime on Saturday in Denver, but a controversial ruling from the officials turned the game on its head.

As Buffalo squared off with the Broncos in the AFC divisional round, Bills quarterback Josh Allen launched a missile to wide receiver Brandin Cooks that looked like a catch for a brief moment.

However, Cooks apparently didn't come down with the ball and maintain the possession needed for Denver cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian to rip it out of the Bills receiver's hands and come down with the interception.

Apparently, Cooks didn't maintain possession long enough as he went to the ground to wipe away McMillian's takeaway.

That is brutal for Buffalo and Cooks in particular. His knee was down and he had the ball as he went to the ground, but there apparently wasn't enough possession needed in the sequence for Cooks to keep the ball.

That's the playoffs for you!
