Why Rams' 69 Kevin Dotson and 77 Alaric Jackson have different helmets than their Los Angeles teammates originally appeared on The Sporting News
Two of the Los Angeles Rams' largest players also have bigger helmets than the rest of their teammates. Well, sort of.
Alaric Jackson, big No. 77, and Kevin Dotson, No. 69, both have special protection on the outside of their standard helmets.
It's a trend that has only just begun to take off league-wide, with players on the Packers and Bills also among those partaking in the trend during game action.

Why do Rams' 69 Kevin Dotson and 77 Alaric Jackson have different helmets?
Kevin Dotson and Alaric Jackson are both wearing Guardian Caps.
A Guardian Cap is a soft-shell cover that goes over the standard helmet. It's meant to reduce concussions and head injuries.
Jackson shows no official history with concussions. He has dealt with blood clots in his lower leg during his career.

Dotson also has no known history of concussions, but he was one of the first players to break out the Guardian Cap in Sept. 2024.
Guardian Caps were first allowed to be worn on NFL practice fields in 2020.
The first time players could wear Guardian Caps in games was 2024.
Now, the Rams have an offensive line duo who has taken this opportunity to keep their heads as safe as possible.
