The Boston Celtics traded for Paul George, which is old news.
Given that they gave up Jaylen Brown, it might also be disappointing news for Celtics fans.
But at least since arriving, George has made a quality move for Boston.
He had a trade bonus in his contract, but he has waived it:
George is still making a lot of money, but this could make a difference.

How does Paul George's trade bonus work?
George had this bonus in his contract specifically for a scenario in which he gets traded.
It activates in the case of a trade, and it earns him $3.9 million more.
That would've counted against the Celtics cap, though, and so George has made a reasonable move.
By waiving the bonus, the Celtics aren't hit quite as hard against the salary cap as they would've been if he kept the bonus alive.
The idea is to leave Boston just a bit more salary room to work with.

George's contract is certainly an overpay at this point in his career, but the same could probably be said of Brown.
Where the Celtics go from here will depend on their next moves, as well as what they do with the draft picks acquired by trading Brown away.
At least PG-13 is trying to get off on the right foot in Boston with this move.
