Despite an All-Star season in the WNBA, Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles was left off the USA Basketball FIBA World Cup roster.
Drafted second overall by the Lynx, Olivia Miles has turned her rookie season into a pure highlight reel. Her court vision and flashy passing translated immediately to the pros, dropping 30-point games and flirting with triple-doubles as one of the WNBA’s most exciting young stars.
However, she hasn’t made the USA basketball team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
Aliyah Boston, Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark, Napheesa Collier, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Rhyne Howard, Kelsey Plum, Angel Reese, Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young all made the squad.
Olivia Miles misses out on USA team for FIBA World Cup
While Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles has had an outstanding 2026 season, earning WNBA All-Star honors, she was omitted primarily because she has not participated in any senior USA Basketball training camps leading up to the tournament.
Managing director Sue Bird and head coach Kara Lawson prioritized continuity and familiarity from past senior national team pools.
The guard/backcourt positions were already stacked with veteran Olympic gold medalists (Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper) and proven core stars who participated in earlier senior USA camps and World Cup qualifiers, such as Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers.
