Why Nate Ament is wearing a Miami Heat hat after being drafted by Milwaukee Bucks with 13th pick originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft was made by the Miami Heat.
But not really. It's actually going to the Milwaukee Bucks thanks to the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.
Despite that, though, everything suggested that it was a Heat pick.
There was a Heat logo on ESPN, and a Heat hat.
The new guy, Nate Ament, won't play for the Heat, though.
Instead, he'll be tasked with helping to replace Giannis.

Why did this pick go to the Heat not the Bucks?
The Giannis trade can't be completed until July 6.
So even though, the Bucks are going to possess the 13th pick, they don't actually have it yet.
Because of that, they had to tell the Heat who they wanted them to take.
It's a somewhat common thing in the NBA, and it makes the whole routine of hats for draft picks a pretty funny one.
The Bucks had the 10th pick and the 13th pick -- No. 10 their own, and No. 13 from Miami.
It's a chance to jumpstart things after losing Giannis.
It just came with a bit of a Miami-tinge until the deal can actually go through for salary cap reasons.
