Why Luka Modric’s World Cup involvement could be at risk
Serie A side Milan saw Luka Modric pick up an injury during the tie against Juventus. As a result, the veteran’s involvement at the FIFA World Cup could be under doubt.
The Rossoneri have released a statement claiming that Modric will undergo a surgery as he has sustained a fracture on his left cheekbone. This procedure will go through in the next few hours, with La Gazzetta dello Sportadding more details.
It is said that the midfielder was quite dazed after the collission with Manuel Locatelli but he still got up. At one point, the situation seemed under control but the medical tests that the problem was much more serious than initially expected.
It isn’t Milan who are keeping a concerned eye on the situation, but Croatia are also doing the same. How things go in the next few weeks can determine how fit Modric ends up being for the World Cup and for the rest of the season.
