Kiyan Anthony has had a bumpy freshman season at Syracuse.

But Carmelo's son has taken another odd twist in the story on Saturday at Virginia.

In the first half, Anthony didn't get on the floor.

He's been a part of the rotation all season, so this is different.

Anthony was on the bench in sweatpants and his jersey top, so he seems dressed and available.

Why isn't Kiyan Anthony playing today?

Syracuse coach Adrian Autry must've decided the Orange needed to operate differently coming off a loss at North Carolina in which SU at one point was down by 32 points.

It's possible that there's some kind of undisclosed injury or punishment at play here, but that would just be speculation.

Kiyan hasn't been at all efficient in his freshman season.

He's averaging 8.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He's only shooting 41.6% from the floor, 23.3% from 3-point range and 61.2% from the foul line.

Occasionally, Kiyan creates an impressive shot.

But more often, it feels like the ball stops when it gets in his hands, and he forces a lot of shots.

The Orange were hanging with Virginia while Kiyan was on the bench, so Autry didn't rush to put him in the game.
