If you've watched the 2026 World Cup and noticed a certain color of cleat standing out, you're not the only one: Pink cleats are on the feet of so many players from so many countries.
What's the deal here? Why pink over other colors? There's actually a great explanation for this. You're seeing pink from suppliers from Skechers, New Balance, Adidas, Nike and Puma.
The Athletic asked some folks at those companies who said that athletes and consumers alike have asked for brighter colors to give them confidence. And pink on green grass is going to pop, of course. Personally, I also wonder if these shoe companies want to make sure their products pop out while watching, so that doubly makes sense.
