Argentina president Javier Milei has decided not to attend the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Argentina reached the final with a 2-1 victory over England, with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez.
Lionel Scaloni’s side will face European champions Spain, who beat France 2-0 in a stunning semi-final performance.
Many celebrities will be attending the biggest game in football, including United States President Donald Trump.
However, Milei had no interest in flying to New Jersey for one clear reason that non-Argentinians may not understand.

Even though Javier Milei is an avid football fan, he has not even considered attending the World Cup final.
Argentinian fans are incredibly superstitious, and Milei does not want to change his routine from the previous rounds.

The president has watched all seven of Argentina’s World Cup games from his home in Buenos Aires, so why change now?
“No way. I’m going to keep watching all the games from Olivos,” he told a local Buenos Aires radio station, El Observador.
Milei’s decision to forego watching the game with Donald Trump demonstrates his passion for the Argentine national team.
Milei has another superstition while watching Argentina at the World Cup: “Since it’s cold and I don’t turn on the heat, I wear an oil company-branded jacket.
“The day of the Switzerland game, it made me really hot. I took it off, and they scored a goal against us. I put it back on and never took it off again.”
Spain are clearly the better team, but perhaps Argentina’s superstitions (or their winning mentality) will carry them to victory.
