The round of 16 gets started on Independence Day at the 2026 World Cup with two highly anticipated matches.
Canada and Morocco will kick things off at NRG Stadium in Houston on Saturday afternoon. The Canadians reached the knockout stages of a World Cup for the first time in their history after beating South Africa, while Morocco knocked out the Netherlands, advancing on penalties after a 3-2 shootout.
The winner will become the first team to move on to the World Cup quarterfinals. But who will that be? Here's a closer look at the bracket:
The winner of the Canada-Morocco matchup will take on the winner of Saturday's second round-of-16 fixture, which pits Paraguay vs France at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where temperatures are expected to hover around the century mark all afternoon.
Paraguay upset Germany 4-3 on penalties in the round of 32, and France locked in their spot with a 3-0 thrashing of Sweden.
The winners of those two matches will meet up in the quarterfinals on July 9 at 4 p.m. ET at Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
