The 2026 NBA Finals begin Wednesday night with a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks. San Antonio won that series, defeating New York in five games.
Of the two sides, the San Antonio Spurs currently roster two former Hornets players, centers Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee.
But considering the Hornets have yet to win a championship in their history, who was the last former Hornet to win an NBA title?
The most recent Charlotte Hornet to win a ring was former Kansas sharpshooter Svi Mykhailiuk. Mykhailiuk spent one year with the Charlotte Hornets, making 19 appearances. In those games, Mykhailiuk posted the highest points per game average of his career, tallying 10.8 points to go along with 2.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 22.5 minutes per game. Mykhailiuk shot the ball well, converting on over 40% of his 3-point attempts. The following year, Mykhailiuk would sign a one-year contract with the Boston Celtics, appearing in 41 games and earning an NBA championship (2024).
